Seacoast Church shares how it finds success in The City

Every day we see example after example of how God is using The City in the hands of people like you to make an impact in the lives of people around the world. In a recent City Conversation with Greg Surratt from Seacoast Church in South Carolina, Greg shared about the increase in engagement Seacoast Church is seeing through The City. An excerpt from the Conversation is below.
Have you seen a specific impact on engagement while using The City at your church?
“We recently did a 21-day fast with our congregation. During our fast, we had 800 new users that engaged on The City, which was an increase of 10% in one month. We had 71% of our people engaged in…actually in The City doing something. We had 400 people that joined a group during that time and we had 1,400 separate events that were created. Events - not that people go to, but things on the social media platform. It was an incredible time of engagement! We also had people sharing their stories in The City and that was exciting for all of us to read. So, it was just an awesome time and obviously we’re going to continue to do that.”
Why is it so important for the people of your church to have a platform where they can engage with one another? What impact does that have on your ministry?
“To be honest with you, being the Pastor of a mega church is not my first choice. Nor would it be in my top 3 things I would want to do as a church member. It’s just not. I grew up in a small church where you kind of knew everybody and you were able to engage - for good or for bad. So, that has always been kind of my heart and my vision – to create that small church feel. In fact, I think about a year ago when we first got involved with The City, the term that we used is we wanted to be ‘a great big – giant, little church.’ It paints the picture of being able to be in a small church where you can talk to one another, communicate with one another more easily and that’s what I think social media allows you to do.”
