Technology isn’t the goal

from The City

Software companies (including this one) know that people coming to their site are primarily looking for feature lists and explanations of how those features provide particular benefits or meet specific needs. And they want to know that you do it better than the next guy. We get that. After all, church leaders have a solemn responsibility to steward every penny given for the work of the Gospel. So, we work hard to build amazing features that meet the unique needs of churches, and we take the time to communicate and demonstrate the value of The City in very practical terms.

And yet, what sets The City apart from the other options out there isn't just our feature list. You see, our whole approach is different. The technology behind The City is great, but technology is the means, not the goal. We care most about the goal — enabling the ministries and mission of your church through technology

Sure, we never get tired of seeing pastors' eyes light up when they experience The City for the first time. Or the oohs and aahs when they realize that software this elegant and easy to use isn't merely a platform for communication or a tool for building community, but a fully integrated system for uniting and enabling the entire mission of their church. As cool as that is, though, what really gets us excited is when we see how God is using The City to impact the lives of real people.

The goal of The City isn't to get people to spend more time online. The goal of The City is to help pastors and leaders in local churches use the features we create to mobilize their people to live out the Gospel, so that the world can see the greatness of God as they encounter the love, grace, and truth of Jesus in the lives of His people. When we hear stories of that happening, we're humbled that Jesus has blessed us to be a part of these stories, no matter how  large or how small of a part that is. Sometimes, The City plays a major role in the story. Other times, it's just a great story that someone shared through The City's Story Center. Either way, when God shows up, the stories are always amazing, and we can't keep them to ourselves. So we'll share them with you here.

In the meantime, feel free to get to know The City. In fact, we'd love to understand your challenges and talk with you about everything The City can do for your church. Ultimately, we want to partner with you in accomplishing the mission Jesus has given his Church. Yeah, we want to be part of that story.
