The 100 Day Plan

Product News

The next 100 days are going to be a very busy time for us. I wanted to share with you what the product team is working on so you can know what to be looking for as we continue our transition into the ACS Technologies family. If you missed the news, The City was acquired by ACST in early May. You can read more about it here and here.

We have an ambitious 100 day plan. Some of these things may sound mundane, but they are all very strategic and we’re pretty excited about them because they all enable us to serve our churches, group leaders, and churchgoers better.

Improving our infrastructure. The development team has been very busy updating The City’s infrastructure and transitioning The City to a new host. This will result in faster performance of The City and lay the groundwork for API development and all of the features that can come as a result (like mobile apps, for instance). This is a massive undertaking.

Integration with ACS software. We are working on determining exactly how we will integrate with ACST’s software. Currently we are investigating ACST’s software and looking for what we call the “low-hanging fruit”, or the tastiest, ripest, most attainable projects. We’ll make sure we keep you updated on the details as they emerge.

Mobile. The design team are working on redesigning The City’s mobile web experience. Currently in the design phase, this will roll out toward the end of the 3 month period in a series of iterations. Primarily what we’re looking to do is ensure the mobile experience is a top notch product with access to the main functionality of The City. This will also be the predecessor to native apps.

You may have noticed I’m using words like groundwork and predecessor, speaking in the language of foundations. We’re building foundations right now because there is much to accomplish in aiding your church, your group leaders, your churchgoers as they embark on the mission God has called them to. We will continue to apply the best of our creativity to solving these problems.

So, these are merely a few of the main projects we’ll be working on over the next 100 days. Of course, these aren’t our only projects, we always devote time to improving the user experience and fixing bugs.
