How can my church get The City?

How much does it cost?
The price is an annual subscription based on the size of your organization and payments are made quarterly. We offer pricing options of different levels of support based on your needs.
If my church gets The City, will we need a staff person to support it?
The City is a fully hosted web service and we have a team of professionals making sure that it is always on an available to you. You will need to nominate someone in your church as a "City Builder" or administrative contact but this person does not have to be technical. The City includes a Help Center where people can get their questions answered and we recommend that you have people in your own church available to help answer questions as they may not all relate to The City. Of course, we have City staff standing by should you need to escalate any issues to us.
Can The City be customized to my church?
Yes. The City includes a suite of design tools that a non-technical person can use to add your church logo, change the background image and change various other aspects of the look of the way The City looks for people in your church.
Does The City integrate with Church Management Software we currently use?
Some churches are using The City alongside existing Church Management Software and some are replacing their current software with The City. We have the ability to export or import data from/to The City but would love to talk to you about your particular requirements.
Is there a mobile version of The City?
Yes. The City that can be accessed from any mobile web browser but is optimized for touchscreen mobile devices with a specific screen size (such as iPhone, Blackberry Storm and Android).
Does The City work on both Mac or PC platforms?
Yes. We are a hosted service that works across PC, Mac. We support major internet browsers (Firefox, Safari, IE 7+). We do not support IE 6.
Are there advertisements on The City from outside vendors?
No. You are in control of all the content of your City as it is a private community.We do not advertise to your church community in any way.
What security is in place to protect kids?
The City is open to anyone connected to your church who is 13 or older. We’ve taken great steps to ensure that children under 18 are protected and are COPPA compliant. For instance; a child cannot have a private conversation on The City with anyone. Because The City is all about building and reinforcing real community, there are numerous checks in place that help you protect your users.
How long has The City been around?
The City has been in active use since February 2008.
Who owns The City?
In November 2008, The City was purchased by Zondervan, a world leader in Christian communications since 1931. The founding developers work as full time employees of Zondervan and The City is operated as a division of Zondervan.
Is this a church member database?
The City is a community networking service. Because of the way we have designed our service, each user of The City has incentive to input and maintain the information in their personal profile in order to interact with others. This creates a highly accurate database that can be accessed in different ways by anyone in the church. Your church leaders and staff would have access to all kinds of reports, and even be able to determine the health of your groups. The accuracy of the database also enables much more effective and targeted communication.
Why is The City better than other solutions on the market?
Most other solutions in the market are focused on Church Management. The City is focused on Church Movement. We are a community networking service that is strongly oriented toward your core mission as a church. This is software your ministry teams will love because your whole church can use to deepen community relationships. A beneficial side effect is the rich dataset and administrative tools we are able to offer.
